Alpinezonedisemboweling ski sundown part 2????
thought at first i could get up to k then i realized that taint happening so it looks like a Wednesday old school run rack at Institution II !! If my father's 87 yr old bladder is okay after Thursday I might be back for the weekend....
Volkl Ac40 unlimited carbon 170's
They are just too small and too stiff for the kind of skiing I like to do. Anyone interested $300.00
Adjustable skis
I was snooping around skistop the other day and came across Volkl Grizzlys. They have a switch for powder and hardpack on the back. Do these things really work?? I think it could be a great idea but how much do they really adjust?
size me up
with the sales about to start i'm giving serious consideration to expanding my single-ski quiver to include a 100mm+ fatty.
i've been skiing on 170s for a few years and think that is the right size for me on an everyday ski.. i hear you go longer when you go fatter...
@ 5' 8" and 200 lbs (25 more than i'd like, thank you very much) would a 180ish fat ski be about the right length?
2011 Gear Review (Wachusett Ride-em and Rank-em event)
What: Invitation only demo event for the Mtn Side Ski shop at WA. Since this is for the shop they pick most of the ski's for you and you write feedback on them. The shop uses this to help them in their buying decisions.
Conditions: A little frozen cord first thing at top. Slushy corn/crud for the rest of the day. Some irregular bumps. Took 3 runs with each ski to get a feel for short and long runs as well as the bumps if appropriate.
The skis:

Park City Mountain Resort Night Skiing - anyone done it?
Is it worth it?
We leave Thursday and arrive SLC at 12:53. It would certainly seem possible to get a couple hrs of turns in before dinner.
However: "*First Time and Payday Lifts open for night skiing and riding 12/25/09-3/28/10."
So this would mean skiing only off those 2 lifts. Does anyone know how accessible they are from town via foot?
Payday services 1200+ vert so it may be worth it if it is a nice night...
skiiing vaca last week in march
Want to take the kids last week in march, northern vermont? We are pretty novice skiiers so a mountain with great beginner trails would be best, we went to camelback and jimney peak last few weeks and had a blast. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
any bumps left at killington? or is everything mowed down?
:argue::argue:
how are we looking for the throwdown at sundown?
is the contest still on for sat? does the course need to be rebuilt, or will some slipping and stepping do the trick?
bringing a large group this wknd and they've been asking what the deal is
Lyrics: What's stuck in your head currently?
In the vein of the "What are you doing right now?" type threads... I thought I'd start a new one:
What snippet of lyrics are stuck in your head right now.
I'll start:
We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine
Thunder Ridge - tonight or tomorrow night?
They're open. They have bumps. Just sayin. I did call, and they said to check before traveling though. Any takers?

Damage report
I got to ski Camelback Sun from 8:30 to 10:30 at which time they had to close the lifts due to lightning in the area and then kept them closed for the rest of the day. The mountain came through the deluge IMO quite well. A couple of minor bare spots on the sides of a couple of trails and plenty of stockpiles to move up and around the mountain. Overall base in good shape. A little wet but great skiing. Bumps are still alive and looked good on Asp and Lower Cleo.
Talked to some...
MTB Porn
I've never really been into MTB porn like I am for skiing, but this looks pretty cool.

Weekend of March 20 Another Washout?
My son and I decided not to go skiing this past weekend, and given how hard it rained, I have no regrets about this decision. Unfortunately, the long-term forecast is showing rain once again for next weekend across much of the Northeast.
deadly Revelstoke avalanche
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/mar/14/3-snowmobilers-dead-canadian-avalanche/
REVELSTOKE, British Columbia -- An avalanche struck an informal snowmobile rally in Canada's Rocky Mountains, killing at least two people and leaving an unknown number missing at an annual gathering best known for its party atmosphere and stunt riding.
Rescuers sent helicopters over remote Boulder Mountain at daybreak Sunday to determine if conditions were safe for a full-scale ground search...

MRG 3/12 to 3/14
Just got back, a bit tired but here it is FWIW. Drove up to MRG Thursday night with a bunch of fine folks from Blue. Bed by midnight.
3/12 - First chair up the double. Conditions were awesome. Soft but firm enough for fun. Temps stated in the low 30s, maybe got up to 40 (?). Cloudy but no precip. Just did some warm-up runs then headed to the single. Antelope was insane, never ended... Loved it and it kicked my butt too. Next time will walk out on the road instead of the uphillish traverse....
Bosquet, 3/12/10
Bosquet, 3/12/10
Been hoping to hit this one for a few years now. On my way to Thunderbolt, the forecast wasnt looking good. Saw they had night skiing, so thought Id stop by on my way to Adams.
The drive up the road to Bosquet passes the United States National Archives district facility, so you can search your family history and ski at the same time. Well, almost.
First impressions are a modest, well-maintained small hill, in the ?suburbs? of Pittsfield. A rather large residential...
Gulf of Slides - March 12, 2010

I got to Pinkham Notch VC at around 930 am. I checked in and found out that avy danger was low. The AMC staffer told me that conditions may be icy because of the warm up the past few...
